Title of Talk: Quantum Computer on a Chip

Abstract: Quantum Computing is revolutionary technology that uses the principles of Quantum Physics to perform calculations and operations on data. It uses qubits, which can exist in multiple states simultaneously, allowing for parallel processing and exponential scaling. There are several candidates for qubits. A scheme is proposed for quantum dots as qubits and entangled source which can be realized as quantum computing on a chip

Dr. Manzoor Ikram is Chief Scientist and Director General of Nation Institute of Lasers and Optronics (NILOP), Pakistan Tokamak Plasma Research Institute and Optics Laboratories at Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission. He also hold the position of Executive Secretary of International Nathiagali Summer College on Physics and Contemporary Institute which was initiated by Nobel Laureate Professor Abdus Salam in 1976. He did his PhD in Quantum Computing from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, in 2001 and joined Applied Physics Division, PINSTECH, Islamabad. Before joining NILOP in 2012, he served as the pioneering Director of Centre for Quantum Physics, COMSATS University, Islamabad, for 5 years. He became Director NILOP in 2021 and now serving as DG there. His research interest include Quantum Computing, Entanglement, Atom Optics, Quantum Optics and Quantum Technologies including Atomic Coherence Effects, Quantum Key Distribution, Sensing and Imaging. He has published over 70 research papers in International journals with Impact Factor over 160 and citations about 2000. He has supervised 6 PhD students. Due to his research in Physics he has been Awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (TI) by the President of Pakistan
